Chelsea have been handed a boost ahead of Liverpool’s visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday after Arne Slot’s latest comments.
The Blues recorded a much needed win against Benfica on Tuesday night, as they ground out a 1-0 victory to get their first points on the board in this season’s Champions League.
Chelsea were far from their best, but given they’d recorded just one win in their last five games, getting the three points was all that mattered.
The injuries have been piling up for Enzo Maresca in recent weeks, and he once again made changes to the side which lost to Brighton.
Luckily for Chelsea it worked out and the Blues were able to get the win, and attention now switches to a huge game against Liverpool on Saturday.

Chelsea didn’t win a Premier League game in September, and have suffered back to back defeat against Manchester United and Brighton.
The Blues have an opportunity to close the gap on Liverpool by three points, with the Reds not looking convincing, and they have now lost their last two games.
Chelsea have been handed a big boost with the news that goalkeeper Alisson will miss this weekend’s game through injury.
“It is never a positive sign when a player has to go off like this,” Slot said as quoted on X.com.
“Alisson will not be available to play on Saturday.”
Hugo Ekitike is also thought to be a doubt, but Chelsea have injury problems of their own they need to navigate.
It’s not just Liverpool who will be missing key players, Chelsea are also set to be without a number of stars for Saturday’s game.

Maresca confirmed after the game Andrey Santos would be out until after the international break, whilst Cole Palmer, Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana are all still absent.
There’s an opportunity for Chelsea to get a huge win, but focus must now be on recovery and keeping the players available fit, as the Blues can’t afford to suffer anymore injuries.
