Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign a promising Arsenal youngster who isn’t getting the chances he needs.

The story claims that Arsenal have offered Chelsea (along with Manchester United) the chance to sign academy product Myles Lewis-Skelly, who faces a difficult road to first team football now that the Gunners have added Bruno Guimaraes to their already impressive list of options.

He made 19 starts last season, and faces the reality that that number could drop this year. Still just 19, Lewis-Skelly previously spent time in Chelsea’s academy before coming through at Arsenal.

Chelsea have a slight issue in midfield – they have a lot of options, but it’s hard to know who to trust. Moises Caicedo is untouchable, but Enzo Fernandez doesn’t want to be at the club. Romeo Lavia has a terrible injury history, Dario Essugo doesn’t look up to the level, Jordan Henderson is 36, Valentin Barco failed once in the Premier LEague…

The better move might be to stick with the current options we’ve got and rely on our own academy youngsters (Reggie Watson and Reggie Walsh, for example) rather than spending big money on a 19 year old whose ceiling may be no higher than our own academy kids.
