In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Chelsea have held talks to land Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara. It has been claimed that the Blues have identified the Senegalese talent as a replacement for Enzo Fernandez but will only sign him if the Argentine joins Manchester City on deadline day.

Camara’s Impressive Form In French Football

Camara enjoyed a decent run of form at the French club as he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 22-year-old registered three goals and earned four assists in 31 appearances for Monaco last season across all competitions.

The Senegalese talent is currently among the most talented midfielders in Ligue 1. Hence, Chelsea would do well to snap him up on deadline day.

His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Blues to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer period.

Should Chelsea Boss Xabi Alonso Go For Camara?

Camara is a decent tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to make some important interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is an accurate passer as well.

The French sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of crucial goals for his team. Camara is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder if told to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical demands and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to land him in this transfer window.

We can expect Camara to add more quality and depth to Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso’s midfield department. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge over the next few years.

At 22, Camara has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a great option for the Blues to consider in this transfer window. Hence, Alonso should focus on going for a midfield with his skill set, but only if he ends up losing Enzo Fernandez to Man City this summer.
