Joao Pedro looked a “level above” everyone else on the pitch in Chelsea’s FA Cup tie against Wrexham according to journalist Kieran Gill.

The Blues survived a scare and advanced to the quarter finals with a 4-2 win after extra time, with the game finishing 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro in the additional period were enough to see Chelsea book their place in the quarter finals, with the draw taking place on Monday evening.

Joao Pedro “level above” everyone else

Liam Rosenior made nine changes to the team which beat Aston Villa, with only Jorrel Hato and Garnacho keeping their place in the side.

That meant after a hat-trick in midweek, Pedro was named on the bench, and he would have been hoping for the evening off.

However, with five minutes of the game left, and with extra time looming, Rosenior introduced Pedro from the bench.

The Brazilian made a difference, and scored his 18th goal of the season, but only his first in this season’s FA Cup with virtually the last kick of the game.

Alan Shearer hailed the impact of Pedro, and Gill has claimed the Brazil international looked better than everyone else on the pitch.

“He [Joao Pedro] looked a level above everyone else once on the pitch, and it is the weight of his passing which has become so much more impressive as well as his finishing,” he wrote in his Mail Sport column.

Robert Sanchez low on confidence?

Whilst Pedro continues to go from strength to strength, it appears the opposite is happening with Robert Sanchez.

Gill has claimed Sanchez was riddled with nerves against Wrexham, and the Spaniard should have done better for Wrexham’s opener.

Sanchez has had a good season, but after a poor performance against Arsenal and being dropped against Villa his confidence appears to have dropped.

With Filip Jorgensen not even in the squad, it’s a indication he will play in Paris and it’ll be interesting to see how Sanchez responds.
