Chelsea are apparently interested in the highly experienced Tyrick Mitchell of Crystal Palace, according to reports today.

Transfer insider Ekrem Konur has linked Chelsea with interest in Crystal Palace left back Tyrick Mitchell.

Konur says the defender would only cost £25m, and that Manchester United and other teams are joining the race to try and sign him.

Mitchell has been at Palace since youth level, but there has been no progress on extending his current deal, and all signs are pointing to him moving on, either in January or next summer.

The key detail in this is Mitchell’s contract. It expires next summer. He’s not the type of player Chelsea have been going for in recent years – he’s already 27, for starters, but we’ve seen that release clauses and expiring contracts do actually change the way the Blues operate in the market.

If he really is available for £25m, it’s a no brainer to buy him and sell him on in a couple of years for a pretty guaranteed profit. That’s why this one is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
