Chelsea midfielder Fernandez names toughest opponent | OneFootball

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez has named former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos as his toughest opponent.

Fernandez was posed the question during a recent interview, about which opponent impressed him the most in his career to date.

The Argentine named Kroos, who Fernandez faced when Chelsea met Real Madrid in the 2022-23 Champions League. Real Madrid won 4-0 on aggregate against the West Londoners over the two legs.

Fernandez also complimented Kroos’ midfield partner, Luka Modric, with the two having been key to a glittering era for the Spanish side. The two won five Champions League trophies together before Kroos’s retirement in 2024.

“The opponent player that impressed me the most? Toni Kroos,” Fernandez said, as per Fabrizio Romano.

“It was Real Madrid vs Chelsea at the Bernabeu, and he was so impressive. Luka Modrić too.”
