He had been set to join and a medical was scheduled. The move was green-lit late at night after Folarin Balogun’s proposed transfer to Everton fell through, reportedly because the USMNT international failed his medical.
That Everton deal could now be revived, albeit on different terms.
Chelsea had agreed a deal for Camara as Monaco required a sale before the window closed. With Balogun set to stay, the Senegal international’s exit was first approved then withdrawn. Monaco have opted to keep the midfielder.
Monaco were unable to sign a replacement, as the French window had already closed earlier in the evening. Erik Lira had been identified as the alternative.
