Malick Thiaw is the one Chelsea absolutely have to try and sign in January, according their former star Shaun Wright-Phillips.
The Newcastle United defender having been absolutely outstanding since his arrival at St James’ Park from AC Milan.
Shaun Wright-Phillips asked the question; ‘If Chelsea could buy one player in January, who would you want?’
The former Chelsea star replying; “It would be almost impossible,,,but if I could have anyone now, it would be Malick Thiaw from Newcastle United.”
Quite incredible that the central defender cost only £30m when signed by Eddie Howe in August.
Under the expert guidance of the Newcastle United boss, Malick Thiaw has turned in a series of outstanding performances for Newcastle United, having been largely a squad player at AC Milan.
Such has been his NUFC form, Thiaw returning to play for Germany after an absence from the national squad of more than two years.
Shaun Wright-Phillips asked by Best Betting Sites; ‘If Chelsea could buy one player in January, who would you want?’
“It would be almost impossible,,,but if I could have anyone now, it would be Malick Thiaw from Newcastle United.
“I know he only joined from Milan in the summer, but if anyone has been watching him since his arrival, they’d know he hasn’t had a bad game yet.
“He does everything right. He reads the game well. When low crosses come into the box, he always seems to be in the right position.
“I hadn’t heard too much about him before he arrived, but since he’s arrived, he’s established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet for Eddie Howe.
“Obviously it’s a bit cruel of me to say Chelsea need to go and buy him already, but in terms of his ability, he’s exactly what that backline needs.
“I know they need experienced defenders too, but the thing about him is that he already plays as if he’s got that experience.”
My thoughts
The time to worry is when people in the media are NOT talking (in a positive way!) about our players.
When people are not dreaming about the clubs they support signing Newcastle United stars.
