Chelsea Women have reportedly offered a contract to Lyon Head Coach Sonia Bompastor as they look to replace USWNT-bound Emma Hayes at the end of the season.
This is according to the Athletic, who state that the process is ongoing but nothing has been signed yet between the 43-year-old and the reigning Women’s Super League champions.
Bompastor has been in charge of Lyon since April 2021, in which time she has led the club to back-to-back Division 1 Feminine titles, as well as the 2021/22 Women’s Champions League.
Previously a standout player for France, whom she represented 156 times, she also won eight league titles and two Champions Leagues while a midfielder with Montpellier and Lyon, Bompastor’s contract with Lyon runs until 2026 but it appears Chelsea have made her their prime candidate to replace Hayes.
