Chelsea are prepared to let Mykhailo Mudryk leave on loan this summer as the Ukrainian winger looks to rebuild his career with regular first-team football. The 25-year-old has only recently returned to action following a lengthy absence, making his first Chelsea appearance since 2024 during pre-season earlier this month.

With Xabi Alonso managing a crowded attacking squad at Stamford Bridge, a temporary move could now offer Mudryk the minutes he needs without Chelsea making a permanent decision on his future too soon.

Reuters reported that Mudryk returned against Juventus on August 5 after being cleared to resume playing.

Chelsea ready to consider loan move for Mudryk

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are now open to receiving loan proposals for Mudryk so he can play regularly following his return.

Several destinations are already being considered. Italian clubs have shown interest, while Chelsea’s sister club RC Strasbourg represents another possible route.

However, Mudryk’s preference is understood to be remaining in England and joining another Premier League side temporarily.

That represents a development from Chelsea’s position earlier this month. Alonso had initially said the club had made no decision over the winger’s future and wanted to assess his fitness after such a long period without competitive football.

Mudryk originally joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for an initial £62 million, meaning the club still have considerable investment tied up in him.

Premier League loan could be best option

A loan looks like the sensible solution for both Chelsea and Mudryk.

Keeping him at Stamford Bridge without guaranteeing significant minutes would achieve very little.

After such an extended absence, he needs matches rather than occasional appearances from the bench.

A Premier League move would carry additional benefits. Chelsea could assess whether Mudryk is genuinely capable of becoming an effective player in English football while he remains in the same competition.

Strasbourg would offer a more controlled environment and potentially less pressure, but Mudryk’s desire to remain in England is understandable. At 25, this is an important stage of his career and he needs to prove he can finally turn his obvious pace and talent into consistent performances.

Chelsea should therefore prioritise the club that can guarantee regular starts rather than simply choosing the easiest loan destination.
