Blues’ Brazilians helped down the Eagles at Selhurst Park

Chelsea moved up to fourth in the Premier League with a deserved 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.

The Blues earned an impressive win at Selhurst Park early in Liam Rosenior’s reign as they went into a 3-0 lead after 64 minutes courtesy of goals from Estevao, Joao Pedro and, from the penalty spot, Enzo Fernandez.

Chris Richard scored a late consolation for the Eagles but by that point Chelsea were already well on their way to victory.

Dom Smith was at Selhurst Park to rate the Chelsea players’ performances...

Robert Sanchez 7

Could do nothing to prevent Palace’s late goal but made an outstanding save with his leg to deny Jean-Philippe Mateta a one-on-one.

Reece James 6

A poor flick-on from a long throw allowed Palace a chance in a first half where James did not play well. After the interval, though, he certainly improved.

Trevoh Chalobah 7

Good in the air and knew to clear his lines when Chelsea were being put under any pressure.

Benoit Badiashile 6

Solid for the most part but a poor loss of possession early on allowed Mateta through on goal.

Marc Cucurella 7

Plenty of energy and won the ball back on many occasions for his team.

Was booked for catching Wharton late, but his revenge came in the second half when Wharton caught him and was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Andrey Santos 7

Sat at the base of midfield and just controlled proceedings throughout. Very impressive.

Estevao 8

Chelsea’s sensational man of the match. Flew away on the counter-attack to put them ahead and then earned an assist with a fine ball to Joao Pedro. Electric.

Enzo Fernandez 7

Slotted into the No10 position with Palmer absent, and got his goal from the penalty spot. Effective.

Pedro Neto 6

Full of running and used his explosive pace but no chance fell to him in order to have a pop at goal.

Joao Pedro 7

Won almost every aerial flick-on he attempted and got his goal for persistent play when he took Estevao’s pass under his spell and cut in before firing home.

Subs:

Wesley Fofana (Caicedo, 74’) 5

Came into the backline for the final 16 minutes.

Jamie Gittens (Neto, 74’) 5

Didn’t have many chances to run at the Palace defence.

Malo Gusto (Estevao, 74’) 5

Produced one good block from a corner but in the same melee in the box Palace scored through Richards.

Jorrel Hato (James, 81’) N/A

Liam Delap (Joao Pedro, 85’) N/A

Not used: Sharman-Lowe, Acheampong, Guiu, Garnacho
