Premier League giants Chelsea are expected to be without the services of a member of the club’s attacking ranks for their upcoming showdown with Barcelona.

The player in question? Liam Delap.

Frontman Delap for his part sealed a big-money move to Chelsea over the summer.

Prior to the international break, however, the 22-year-old saw his Blues career dealt an early blow.

In just his third appearance of the campaign, against Fulham, Delap was forced off with a muscular injury.

Speaking during his latest press conference this week, manager Enzo Maresca was in turn asked for an update on the wellbeing of his sidelined goalscorer.

And Maresca went on to reveal that Delap is facing up to a spell of 10 to 12 weeks out of action.

As much means that the Englishman is highly unlikely to play his part against Barcelona, when the two sides lock horns in the Champions League late in November.
