Liam Delap says he is starting to feel “sharp” again after scoring Chelsea’s third in their 3-0 win over Barcelona.

It was Delap’s first goal of the season, having missed seven weeks of the campaign with a hamstring injury.

“Yeah, 100 per cent,” Delap said when asked if he was relieved to score.

“Obviously I’ve had a tough start with my injury and I’ve played a few games now and I’m starting to feel a little bit sharp and ready so I’m happy.”

Also on the scoresheet in the Champions League win over Barcelona was teenage sensation Estevao, and Delap says he is a “special” talent.

“Incredible, I think,” Delap said. “He’s so young, but he’s so exciting and he’s so raw. He’s got the world at his feet at the moment. I think he’s just got to stay grounded and keep working hard.”

The Blues striker also says the victory can give his team confidence that they are capable of winning more silverware this season.

“Yeah, we have such belief and confidence within the group,” he said. “We’re in a really good position in both tables, so hopefully we can just push on.”

Next up for Chelsea is a Premier League clash with league leaders Arsenal, a clash the former Manchester City man is already thinking about.

“Massive, absolutely, if we can get within three points to them,” Delap said. “They’re another really, really strong team. It’s going to be a really difficult game, but we’ll come out firing again.

“We’ve got a few days to rest now, but we’ve got our heads on Arsenal. We’ll go and work on them and find the game plan and hopefully come out firing again.”
