Liam Delap has had a frustrating first season, largely for reasons beyond his control.

His hamstring injury picked up early in the campaign slowed his start, and then shortly after he returned he was taken out for further time by a shoulder problem.

But some of his issues have been of his own making – his red card and his love of yellows have frustrated fans. Delap addressed this when speaking to TNT Sport ahead of tonight’s game against Pafos in the Champions League.

Delap fears losing his edge if he stops getting stupid yellow cards

“I think I’ll always be the same. I was a nightmare when I was a kid. I still have my moments where I probably go over the edge, but if I took that away from me, I wouldn’t be the same player,” Delap said.

“Obviously, there are times where I can control it and be sensible and smart about it, but I would never ever lose that because I’ll lose my edge, lose my fire a little bit.”

Nobody wants him to lose his fire, but it’s a little concerning to hear him be so defiant about potentially changing his ways to become more sensible. Let’s focus on scoring goals first, then we can worry about the rest.

Delap also spoke to the club’s official website, where he was happy to claim that his team were ready to win the Champions League, and that he was ready to step into the shoes of great strikers before him to win it.

Raheem Sterling is still at Chelsea, and apparently the plan is now to sell him. Well, that’s actually been the plan all along, but nobody is buying. We’re not sure why the club thinks things have changed.
