Chelsea are set for medical tests with Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion as his proposed transfer edges closer to completion.
The Blues managed to secure an agreement with Atletico following negotiations over Conor Gallagher, who will move to Madrid in a separate transfer.
Samu, still just 20 years of age and with only nine top flight goals to his name so far, is going to cost Chelsea around £35m. Fabrizio Romano notes that the youngster has agreed a seven-year contract until 2031 and is now due for a medical.
90min earlier reported that, despite nearing a deal for Samu, Chelsea are still holding talks over Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and do not see it as an 'either or' situation.
With Samu joining Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are well stocked in the number nine role, meaning there is little pressure to agree to Napoli's high demands for Osimhen. But he is agitating for an exit and Napoli want rid of his wages, leading Chelsea to believe circumstances could see the Serie A side eventually accept a lower offer or different structure.

At 25 years of age, Osimhen is older than most of the players Chelsea have targeted over the past couple of seasons. But he is a striker of proven quality, scoring 65 Serie A goals since moving to Italy in 2020, including 26 in the league during Napoli's 2022/23 title-winning campaign alone.
Samu is very much unpolished potential for the long-term. The towering Spaniard was still a teenager until May and spent the 2022/23 season in Spain's fourth tier with Granada's B squad. That secured him a transfer to Atletico last summer, which led to a loan at Alaves.
After one in one for Granada's first-team – ironically against Atletico Madrid days before joining them – Samu scored eight times in 34 La Liga appearances for mid-table Alaves.
