Scorers: Aleixandri 74'
Manchester City's hopes of reclaiming the FA Cup for the first time in four years remain alive after they dumped out Arsenal on the road on Sunday afternoon.
The first half produced little of note although Arenal, who were without Vivianne Miedema due to a minor knee issue, were perhaps fortunate to escape a penalty shout from Bunny Shaw.
Few clearcut openings were created after the restart either, although Sabrina D'Angelo did come up with a real moment of class with a flying save to her left to deny Shaw's looping header before the Jamaican was frustrated further by a Leah Williamson goal-line clearance.
But as the game moved towards the final 15 minutes, City finally got the winner they deserved when a free-kick into the area found Laia Aleixandri and in turn, she found the net to send her side through to the last eight, despite some injury-time dramatics from goalkeeper Khiara Keating, who City owed a big debt to for her late showing.
