Chelsea look to make late move for Jennifer Echegini

The Telegraph have reported that Chelsea are still trying to sign Nigerian international Jennifer Echegini before the end of the transfer window.

This comes after French publication Le Parisien reported that PSG had rejected an offer from the reigning WSL champions.

PSG reportedly see Echegini as a crucial part of their project and would be reluctant to let her go during the winter window.

However, Chelsea are yet to make a signing this window and recent results have shown the need for Chelsea to add some depth to their squad.

Sonia Bompastor is under pressure after consecutive defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City.

However, even if Echegini joins,  it’s likely she will miss a good month’s worth of action. The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations begins on March 18th and will run into April. Nigeria will be one of the strong contenders to go all the way and win the tournament.
