Chelsea failed with a move to sign the now Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko ahead of the Red Devils landing him.

Sesko is now of course plying his trade in the Premier League after United spent big to bring him in last summer, but he was being courted by many other clubs at the time as well.

Benjamin Sesko plays for Leipzig in 2022.

Chelsea apparently  made a tempting offer to sign Sesko three years before his move to Old Trafford.

According to The Sun, Manchester United’s head of recruitment Christopher Vivell was at Stamford Bridge at that time and admired Sesko following his previous spell with the Red Bull group.

It is claimed Chelsea’s interest in Sesko was so concrete they even offered the then-teenager ‘whatever he wanted’ to agree a move to west London.

Sesko and his agent rejected the move at that time, believing it was too early for him to make the big jump.

Chelsea don’t have long to stew over their defeat – they’re back in action against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, and have some important players close to returning to action.
