Several Chelsea players deserved praise for their showings, but three stars stood out to Premier League legend Alan Shearer, who put them in his Team of the Week.

Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong was on the list. He got his chance in the team following injuries to Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana.

It was a massive occasion for the 19-year-old, but he stepped in and produced an assured performance.

Acheampong earned praise for his duels with Alexander Isak and his ability to drive forward with the ball.

Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella was also lauded for shutting down Mohamed Salah.

The Spanish defender won five out of six duels, won three fouls, created one big chance, completed five clearances and executed three out of five long balls.

He also made two tackles, as well as two interceptions.

Shearer praised Man of the Match Moises Caicedo after another stellar showing in the engine room.

The Ecuadorian midfielder shut down Liverpool attacks with aplomb and capped off his brilliant showing with a stunning goal.

Shearer said: “Is there anything he can’t do? Gave Chelsea the lead against Liverpool with an incredible goal and totally dominated the midfield.”

Chelsea will likely use this performance as a springboard after a mixed start to the season. This victory will give them confidence to keep delivering the goods.
