Blues keen to put European disappointment behind them

Chelsea take on Wolves in the Saturday evening kick-off this weekend.

OneFootball Videos

Enzo Maresca’s side are out to make things right after they were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw by Azerbaijani side Qarabag in the Champions League in midweek.

Alejandro Garnacho’s second-half equaliser saved a point for the Blues after Willian Estevao’s opener had been turned on its head by the hosts.

Domestically, the west Londoners are in a good place coming off the back of a 1-0 win at Tottenham.

That victory in the north of the capital put their disappointing home defeat by Sunderland behind them, and now, Maresca’s men sit seventh in the league, eight points of league leaders Arsenal, but just two adrift of second-placed Manchester City.

As for Wolves, the Black Country outfit are managerless having sacked Vitor Pereira.

Winless in their 10 league games this term, this weekend’s hosts were beaten 3-2 at home by Burnley, which sealed Pereira’s fate.

Under-21 coach James Collins and Under-18 manager Richard Walker are currently in interim charge of the first team while the club search for a new head coach.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Pedro Neto could be in line for a return against his former club after he missed the trip to Qarabag with a knock, and Romeo Lavia was forced off in Azerbaijan with a thigh issue that could leave him out for several weeks.

Otherwise, it is as you were for the Blues. Talisman Cole Palmer looks to be sidelined until December, while defender Benoit Badiashile could return after the international break.

Dario Essugo looks set for a comeback in the new year, and Levi Colwill is out for the season.

As for Wolves, Rodrigo Gomes had surgery on a groin injury and is expected to be out until February next year.

Emmanuel Agbadou will be a big miss at the back as he is suspended, and Matt Doherty is also out with a knee injury.

Chelsea vs Wolves prediction

Chelsea made hard work of their opponents in the recent League Cup clash at Molineux, with Liam Delap sent off in a 4-3 win.

This time around, with home advantage, you would back the Blues to have enough about them to take full advantage of the predicament Wolves find themselves in.

Chelsea to win, 2-0.
