With Enzo Fernandez dropped by his manager, changes will be made

There will be no Enzo Fernandez when Chelsea host Port Vale in the FA Cup due to a punishment handed down by the club.

Fernandez has been dropped by head coach Liam Rosenior for Saturday’s cup game and next Sunday’s Premier League home game against Manchester City due to unprovoked comments he has made, which have thrown his future into doubt.

Across three interviews in recent weeks, Fernandez has made it clear that he considers his long-term future at the club to be in doubt and appeared to invite interes from Real Madrid. He was subsequently handed a two-match ban by Rosenior on Friday morning.

Rosenior is expected to name something of an experimental line-up for the match against the side sitting at the bottom of League One, with decisions to be made over whether to start or rest senior stars such as Cole Palmer, Marc Cucurella, Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo.

It could open the door for Josh Acheampong, Benoit Badiashile and Liam Delap to make rare starts for the Blues, and in midfield, Dario Essugo, Romeo Lavia and Andrey Santos are all in the mix.

Estevao and Jamie Gittens are back available after hamstring injuries. But hamstring injuries to Trevoh Chalobah and captain Reece James keep both defenders out of contention to play. Levi Colwill is in full training but not yet ready to place his first minutes of the season following his ACL injury.

Filip Jorgensen remains a significant doubt after minor groin surgery over the international break.

Chelsea predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Acheampong, Fofana, Badiashile, Hato; Lavia, Essugo; Estevao, Santos, Garnacho; Delap

Injured: James, Chalobah, Colwill, Jorgensen

Dropped: Fernandez
