Chelsea’s pursuit of Roma midfielder Manu Koné ends | OneFootball

Manu Koné (25) will remain at AS Roma and will not join Chelsea, according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. The France international midfielder had emerged as a late target for the Premier League side, but they will now have to abandon their pursuit of the midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Koné has been an important player for Roma since joining the Italian club from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2024. The 25-year-old midfielder has established himself as a key presence in the centre of the pitch, combining his physicality with his ability to carry the ball forward. This has seen him earn internartional recognition. Chelsea’s interest had raised the possibility of a late move to Stamford Bridge, but no agreement has been reached and Koné is set to continue with Roma.

The West London club will now be forced to look elsewhere for a replacement for Enzo Fernández, who looks set to sign for Manchester City before the end of the window. Monaco’s Lamine Camara is also another player being targeted by the Premier League club.
