Chelsea have set a staggering asking price for Pedro Neto should the winger leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Amid early interest from Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, a new contender has entered the race and could test Chelsea’s resolve. Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are the latest club reportedly interested in the Portuguese international.

Earlier in the window, Chelsea identified Neto as a player who was not untouchable, although they were not actively looking to sell him. However, it is understood that Chelsea value the 26-year-old at close to £100 million.

The Portuguese international was involved in this summer’s FIFA World Cup, where Portugal fell short in the round of 16, losing 1-0 to eventual winners Spain. Neto played in the defeat, coming on as a substitute in the second half.

With Portugal’s early exit, Neto was able to feature in a significant portion of pre-season, including an assist in the 3-0 victory over AC Milan, where the winger played just under an hour. Against Real Sociedad, Neto was deployed as a wing-back for 75 minutes in Chelsea’s 3-1 victory at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

If a significant offer were to arrive for Neto, Chelsea could view it as an opportunity too good to turn down, particularly given the depth the Blues now possess in the positions he can play.

In attack, Chelsea have new signings Geovany Quenda and Estevao Willian, both of whom can operate on the right. The Blues are also well-stocked at wing-back, with Reece James capable of playing the role, while Malo Gusto and new signing Marco Palestra provide further options.

With the supply of high-level wingers appearing limited this summer, Chelsea’s reported valuation of Neto is understandable given the current market. Former West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville recently joined Al Hilal in a deal worth up to £60 million, while Manchester City reportedly value Savinho at around £80m.

Neto also registered 11 goal contributions in the Premier League last season, compared with just two for Savinho and seven for Summerville. Away from the Premier League, Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly demanding between £130m and £140m for Bradley Barcola. Those figures demonstrate the premium currently being placed.

With just under two weeks remaining in the transfer window, it will be intriguing to see how Chelsea respond to any potential proposals. However, with Neto under contract until 2031, the ball remains firmly in Chelsea’s court.
