TV Gazeta has dismissed sports journalist Chico Lang, 71, on 30 March 2026. According to Meu Timao, the decision ends a stint of more than 36 years at the broadcaster.

Lang has been part of Fundação Cásper Líbero since 1990, starting at the A Gazeta Esportiva newspaper before moving into television.

From 1990 he was a permanent pundit on Mesa Redonda and Gazeta Esportiva, working alongside Roberto Avallone and Osmar Garrafa. He became a central figure on the Sunday show in the 1990s with Avallone, surpassing Rede Globo’s audience at the time.

An avowed Corinthians supporter, he was known for an irreverent, forthright style, and remained critical even when discussing his own club.

In recent years he faced health problems that led to temporary absences. In 2018 and 2019 he suffered family tragedies with the deaths of his sons, Paulo and Pedro Lang.

The broadcaster issued a note thanking him for his service and his significant contribution.
