Chiquinho converted a penalty in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time as Alverca beat Famalicão 1-0 at Complexo Desportivo FC Alverca, a result that lifts the hosts from 12th to 11th in Liga Portugal.
After the restart, Sandro Lima won a penalty in the 56th minute, with Justin De Haas penalised.
Lazar Carevic guessed right to save Lima's spot kick (58.). The visiting goalkeeper had earlier kept the forward at bay soon after half time.
Substitute Chiquinho entered (70.) and gave Alverca extra thrust, winning territory and set pieces as the pressure built.
A handball by Leonardo Realpe brought a second spot kick in the third minute of second half stoppage time. VAR confirmed the decision. Chiquinho swept his effort into the top left in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time.
Four minutes of added time had been indicated before the late drama.
Alverca recorded four shots on target from 10 attempts. Famalicão had more of the ball at 56.4% and tallied 14 attempts but only two on target.
