Chivas Earn a Point in the Bella Airosa | OneFootball

Chivas deserved more this afternoon at Estadio Hidalgo, where they earned a valuable point after drawing 1-1 against Pachuca on Matchday 6 of the Apertura 2026. In a match they dominated for long stretches, but where a controversial call took the victory away from them, Gabriel Milito’s side reached 11 points in the overall standings.

The opening half became a Rojiblanco monopoly, not only because of the early lead the Rebaño found after a moment of brilliance from Hugo Camberos, which ‘Piojo’ Alvarado finished off, but also because of the style of play that has become a trademark of Chivas. On merit, the gap could have been wider for the Rojiblancos, but Pachuca’s defensive work prevented it.

After halftime, Guadalajara once again took the initiative in search of a second goal, while the Tuzos responded with changes of their own. It was during this stretch that the controversy arrived, with a penalty awarded to the Hidalgo side after VAR recommended that the referee review the play. The official ultimately upheld his decision. In the closing stages, the Rebaño continued creating chances but lacked the precision needed to find the winning goal.

Chivas must now turn the page and focus on AP26 Matchday 7, when they visit Atlético San Luis at Estadio Alfonso Lastras next Saturday, September 5, at 5 PM.

The Goals

− What a Chivas goal!!! Just after kickoff, Efraín Álvarez sent Hugo Camberos down the left flank. Camberos left his marker behind and reached the end line, where he had all the time in the world to deceive the goalkeeper before cutting the ball back for Roberto Alvarado, who simply tapped it into the net.

− Pachuca equalized in the 78th minute through Salomón Rondón’s penalty after a controversial call.

The Chances

− In the 10th minute, Romo played a ball over the top that sent Álvarez through one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Facing the advancing keeper, he attempted a chipped finish, but Venegas cleared it off the line.

− In the 23rd minute, ‘Efra’ delivered a driven cross that dangerously flashed across the six-yard box without finding a Chivas teammate.

− In the 34th minute, ‘Santi’ Sandoval tried his luck from distance, but his shot sailed over the crossbar.

− In the 43rd minute, Hugo Camberos was brought down inside the box by a clear push from behind, but neither the referee nor VAR awarded a penalty.

− In the 45th minute, Álvarez appeared at the left corner of the penalty area and unleashed a powerful low shot toward goal, but a last-ditch sliding challenge sent the ball out for a corner.

− In the 45th+2 minute, Miguel Gómez pulled the trigger from the edge of the box. The ball took a dangerous bounce, but the goalkeeper managed to tip it away with his fingertips.
