CDMX.- Despite creating multiple scoring chances, finishing wasn’t on Chivas Femenil’s side on Monday night at Estadio Olímpico Universitario, where they narrowly lost to Pumas in Matchday 8 of the Clausura 2026. Antonio Contreras’ squad remains on 19 points, still sitting near the top of the standings.
In what was a very even match overall, El Rebaño pressed high against Pumas from the opening minutes, but a fortunate goal in the first half forced them to chase the game. Las Rojiblancas tried to break down the home side’s defense and, although they generated chances inside the box, they lacked sharpness in the final touch.
Chivas Femenil will now turn its focus to the next challenge: the Clásico Tapatío on Matchday 9, set to be played next Monday, February 16, at Estadio AKRON, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.
The goal- 25’ Montserrat Hernández opened the scoring for the hosts with a cross-shot that snuck in at Blanca Félix’s far post.
Key chances- 20’ Yamile Franco intercepted the ball in the attacking third, drove forward and fired from the edge of the box, but López closed down well to make the save.- 36’ Denise Castro look her luck from distance, aiming for the far post and forcing the goalkeeper into action.- 46’ Denise chipped a through ball into the box for ‘Licha’; the ‘Depredadora’ lifted her shot over the keeper, but couldn’t get enough direction on it.- 56’ Cervantes thought she had equalized! ‘Licha’ capitalized on a mistake by the opposing goalkeeper on a set piece and tapped it in, but the assistant referee flagged an offside that wasn’t there.- 73’ Viriii! She got in behind after a great flick-on from ‘Boyi’ that left her one-on-one with the keeper, but couldn’t beat the closing angle.- 80’ The ‘Doctora’ drew defenders and slipped the ball to ‘Licha’, whose shot was blocked by a last-ditch tackle, allowing ‘Viri’ to fire from a tight angle and force another save.
