The regular season of the 2025 Apertura officially ended, and with it came a great finish by Chivas Femenil, which put the icing on the cake in Matchday 17 with a victory over Necaxa. The Guadalajara team is ready to face Toluca in the Quarterfinals, as it has improved in terms of numbers, so we can say that the Rebaño is in better shape for the Fiesta Grande.
There are several areas in which Guadalajara has surpassed its performance in the first half of the year, reflecting the constant work of coach Antonio Contreras and his squad. Here we will review one by one the areas in which the Rojiblancas surpassed their performance in CL25, after 17 games played.
Points
AP25: 33 points / CL25: 30 points
Despite an uncertain start to the tournament, even though they deserved some favorable results, the Rebaño Sagrado earned more points in the second half of the year, which allowed them to remain in contention until the last second for one of the top four spots in the table. This is also the best tournament in terms of points for Chiverío since CL24.
Position
AP25: 5th place / CL25: 6th place
Of course, earning more points means the possibility of aiming for higher positions in the standings, which also favored Chivas Femenil as they jumped one spot from last season.
Wins
AP25: 10 wins / CL25: 8 wins
Antonio Contreras' team had a great second half of the tournament, stringing together five wins in a row and earning more wins than in the first half of the calendar year. In fact, this is the first time Guadalajara has achieved at least 10 wins in a tournament since AP23.
Clean sheets
AP25: 8 goals in 0 / CL25: 8 goals in 0
If there is one area that sets the Guadalajara team apart in 2025, it is their defensive solidity. Although they were unable to repeat their status as the best defense in the tournament, as they did in CL25, Chivas Femenil did equal the number of games without conceding a goal. In total, they had 16 clean sheets in 34 games, or almost half.
Goals scored
AP25: 29 goals / CL25: 28 goals
El Rebaño also improved its scoring ability, with one very important statistic: it scored in each and every one of its AP25 matches. In comparison, in CL25 it went without a goal in four games, while in the current semester it scored at least one in 17 games.
Alicia Cervantes
AP25: 10 goals / CL25: 6 goals
'La Predadora' continues to be a key offensive player for Mexico's most beloved and popular team. When 'Licha' is doing well, Chivas Femenil is doing well, as reflected in her 10 goals in AP25, compared to 6 in the previous tournament.
Top scorers
AP25: Alicia Cervantes (10), Denise Castro (6), Viridiana Salazar (3) / CL25: Alicia Cervantes (6), Viridiana Salazar (4) and Adriana Itubide (3)
Something we cannot fail to applaud is the involvement of different players in the attack, and in the AP25 we have seen the welcome emergence of Denise Castro. In the previous point, we talked about Cervantes, but the young Californian has complemented the Rebaño's offense, understanding both 'Licha' and 'Caro' Jaramillo perfectly, and also carrying an important responsibility in attack thanks to her great qualities.
Rojiblanco note
- Throughout 2025, Chivas Femenil debuted three youth players, integrating them into the group from preseason training and giving them minutes in the women's circuit throughout both tournaments. They are Yessenia Guzmán, Valeria Alvarado, and Camila Zamora, future alternatives for Antonio Contreras' team.
