England reached their third consecutive major tournament final in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to beat Italy 2-1 after extra time in the Euro 2025 semi-final, thanks to super-subs Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly.

Barbara Bonansea had given the Italians a first-half lead, and the Lionesses struggled to break through a well-organised defence, with Italy’s keeper Laura Giuliani in fine form.

But just when it looked like time was up, 19-year-old Michelle Agyemang struck in the sixth minute of stoppage time to take the match into extra time.

The Lionesses pushed for a winner and nearly found it when Agyemang hit the bar with a brilliant looping effort. Then, with just a minute left on the clock, Beth Mead won a penalty after being fouled by Emma Severini.

Chloe Kelly stepped up and her initial effort was saved by Giuliani, but the Arsenal forward was quickest to the rebound, slotting home the winner with just moments to spare.

It was another dramatic night for the Lionesses, who once again proved their resilience under pressure. With a third consecutive final now secured, Wiegman’s side will look to defend their European title on Sunday and write another chapter in their remarkable run.
