Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has been drawing in on Chelsea’s ‘biggest problem’ as he predicts the Aston Villa game.

The Blues are getting ready to play Villa away on Wednesday night, and both teams are currently doing their best to throw away their Champions League qualification spots with weak and inconsistent recent form.

Chelsea have drawn against two relegation battling sides in Leeds and Burnley, and then they lost 2-1 against Arsenal on Sunday. Villa have also been massively inconsistent.

Sutton has decided to take a seat on the fence for this one and has no idea which way it’s going to go.

Writing for the BBC this week, Sutton said:

“Aston Villa are on a terrible run and are going to fall out of the top four at this rate.

“Chelsea are not exactly flying at the moment either, but their biggest problem is that they can’t keep 11 players on the pitch – they probably would have got something against Arsenal on Sunday if not for Pedro Neto’s silly red card.

“It’s hard to back either team to get the win, so I am going to sit on the fence here.”

Sutton’s prediction: 1-1.

In other news today…

Matt Law of The Telegraph reported earlier this week that Chelsea are “making it clear” to their players that booking for dissent won’t be tolerated anymore.

Chelsea don’t have long to stew over their defeat – they’re back in action against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, and have some important players close to returning to action.
