Harrison Burrows is finally finding form again in a Blades shirt, and this is vital for his team's chances next season.
Sheffield United have had a roller coaster of a season, and while their chances of finishing in the play-off places in the Championship are looking relatively slim, they have found their feet in the division after a really difficult start to the campaign.
The decision to sack Ruben Selles and reinstate Chris Wilder as the head coach of the South Yorkshire outfit in September proved to be correct, and the Blades are all but safe from relegation after winning just one of their first nine games.
Despite the obvious improvements, there have been a number of players who have not hit the same heights as they have done in the past, and it seems likely that there will be plenty of changes to the squad in the summer at Bramall Lane.
However, there is one key star who has found it tough to find any sort of consistency this season until the last few weeks, and after he was targeted by a club from overseas in the January transfer window, Sheffield United know that he will be crucial next season.
The hangover after defeat in the Championship play-off final to Sunderland last season hit the Blades hard in the early stages of 2026/27, and the likes of Gustavo Hamer and Harrison Burrows struggled in the opening phase of the campaign as their club looked to recover.

While the former found his feet over the winter period, it has taken Sheffield United's left-back a little bit longer to get back to his very best. However, he has once again proven his ability at left-back, and his attacking stats are simply sensational.
Since the start of February, the 24-year-old has four goal involvements in the Championship, and he has already registered more assists this season than he did last time out, while he has also only scored one goal fewer than he did in 2024/25.
Defensively, Burrows is also improving, and he has won 48 tackles, made 124 recoveries and cleared the ball on 88 occasions in the league this season, as per FotMob. He played a crucial role against Birmingham City on Saturday, providing the assist for Patrick Bamford's equaliser, and this will only give him more confidence going forward.
Sheffield United have done well in recent years to keep hold of their best players, even when they have missed out on promotion, or they have been relegated back to the Championship. Their ability to keep both Hamer and Burrows at the club in January was excellent, and they must hold strong once again this summer.
Turkish side Trabzonspor submitted a £3.5m bid for the left-back in the winter window, with the fee potentially rising to £5m through add-ons if it was accepted. However, the Blades rejected the offer, and kept the former Peterborough United man at the club.

It would not be a surprise to see the Turkish giants return with a fresh offer in the summer transfer window. But, if Sheffield United want to return to the play-off positions next season, they must avoid selling their full-back, as his attacking presence will be crucial for their promotion push.
At 24, there is plenty of time for Burrows to continue his development, and Wilder will be keen to show the Championship his managerial prowess once again in 2026/27. His left-back could be the key, especially if Bamford continues his goalscoring form up front.
