Christian Imga shone on his first start for Bilbao Athletic, scoring a superb solo goal at Pontevedra. He collected Sarasketa’s pass on the left, drove inside and thumped a right-foot shot into the net at Pasarón.
As reported by as.com, the 17-year-old’s first start came a week after his debut against Avilés at Lezama. He has been fast-tracked following the loans of Gitf, born 2006, to Eibar, and Olabarrieta, 2005, to Eldense.
Born in Zumárraga on 17 February 2009, the 1.90m left winger plays on the opposite flank and is physically robust. He has represented Spain at under-17, featuring at the Euros, and under-18, choosing Spain over Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea.
The game finished 3-1, with Conde and Vizcay, recalled from a loan at Arenas, joining him on the scoresheet for Bittor Llopis’s side.
Coaches at Lezama believe that, despite still being a second-year Juvenil, Imga can polish his dribbling, power, shot and class to be decisive in Primera Federación at 17. Terzic watched him against Avilés at Lezama and has him, plus Monreal and Selton, training weekly with the first team.
Athletic signed him from Alavés’ Cadete A in November 2024 for 1.2 million, a move long in the works, alongside the 4.5 million deal for Maroan Sannadi, then on loan at Barakaldo. He rejected Alavés’ renewal offer, leading to months without games and prompting Ibaigane to accelerate his arrival. In August, Athletic also added his brother, Alan Imga, born in 2012, from Ibaia to bolster the Infantil de Honor.
