While most European and South American leagues go on break for the end-of-year holidays, the global football calendar doesn’t come to a complete halt.

In 2025, the highlight on Christmas Eve is the Africa Cup of Nations, while December 25th will see the return of the Saudi League.

Wednesday’s Christmas Eve will be busy with Africa’s main national team tournament and Asian continental competitions.

Africa Cup of Nations: The tournament is in full swing with four matches, including Cameroon facing Gabon at 5pm.
Asian Champions League 2: Al-Nassr, coached by Jorge Jesus, takes the field against Al-Zawraa at 1pm. It’s worth noting that Cristiano Ronaldo has been rested in this competition, which is considered secondary.

🗓️ Christmas Day (12/25) with the Sauditão

On Thursday, the Africa Cup takes a break, but football in the Middle East picks up steam after a month-long pause.

Saudi League: The highlight is Al-Ettifaq facing Al-Riyadh at 2:30pm.
Egypt: A full round keeps the day busy, with giants like Zamalek and Pyramids in action

🏴 The Boxing Day Tradition (12/26)

Although there are no games in England on the 25th, the famous Boxing Day follows right after.

For 2025, however, the Premier League has opted for a reduced round on Friday (26th) due to television reasons.

Manchester United vs Newcastle will be the only top-flight match on the 26th
Rest of the round: Most of the 18th round matches have been moved to Saturday (12/27)
