Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has provided a positive injury update on Fabian Schär, Tino Livramento and Lewis Miley as the trio continue their recoveries.
Schär has been sidelined since January but is now nearing a return to full team training, with Jaissle hopeful the experienced defender could be back involved in the coming days.
“He’s on the way back now,” Jaissle said after his side were beaten 3-1 by Everton in a pre-season friendly in Edinburgh.
“Hopefully in the next days he will be included in the team training, and then we need to see if he gets some minutes already in the weekend.”
Livramento and Miley are also progressing in their respective recoveries, with Jaissle hoping they can join their team-mates in training shortly.
“A bit of the same, I would say, like with Fabian,” he said.
“Also we’re hoping that in the next days they can be integrated in the team sessions, and hopefully also will get some minutes then.”
The Newcastle boss also says he is confident of more signings coming through the door before the end of the transfer window.
“I will be always consistent with my approach,” he said. “We handle these things internally, we are aware of what we need, and as you know, there’s still some time.”
