Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier is set to replace Argentine football great Hernán Crespo as head coach of Qatari side Al-Duhail, according to a report this Tuesday from Fabrizio Romano.
Galtier is a free agent since his dismissal by PSG after only one season in charge of Les Parisiens, despite winning the Ligue 1 title. He was replaced by Luis Enrique. The Marseille-born Galtier was previously linked with the managerial vacancy at OM, before Italian head coach Gennaro Gattuso got the nod.
The end of Galtier’s tenure in the French capital was marred by racism allegations, dating back to his time as manager at OGC Nice, and for which he will stand trial on 15th December at Nice’s Correctional Court for discrimination and psychological harassment.
Fabrizio Romano understands that the former Saint-Etienne and Lille manager is “on the verge of being appointed as new Al Duhail head coach” and that talks at final stages with the Qatari club in the wake of Crespo’s dismissal.
