Christopher Nkunku has rejoined RB Leipzig on loan from AC Milan, with an option to buy. The move was completed on Tuesday, taking the France international back to the club where he made his name.

The club said in a statement that Nkunku seized the chance to return without hesitation, is delighted to be back, feels in peak condition, wants to help immediately and is eager to play at the Red Bull Arena in front of the supporters.

At Milan he had been moved to a separate training group and was not in new head coach Ruben Amorim’s plans, having been left out of the squad for the 2-1 win over Torino on Sunday.

A PSG academy graduate, Nkunku, 28, first joined Leipzig in 2019, making 172 appearances, scoring 70 and providing 56 assists, and he became a France international with 18 caps and two goals.

He moved to Chelsea in 2023 for around 60 million euros and struggled to establish himself, then joined Milan last summer for close to half that fee, ending 2025-26 with 35 appearances, eight goals and three assists.
