Manchester City entered the most recent international break buoyed after extending our strong start to the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League campaign.

Ahead of the pause in domestic action, Andrée Jeglertz’s side maintained our place at the top of the table following a fantastic run of eight straight wins since our narrow opening day defeat to Chelsea.

During that stretch of impressive performances, the Blues have continued to develop under the stewardship of the Swede while recording memorable victories.

Behind our impressive campaign so far are a swathe of strong statistics as we approach the halfway mark of the term.

TAKING AIM

Goals take centre stage when examining City’s season so far and with the firepower at our disposal it’s not hard to see why.

In total, we’ve plundered 23 times in the top-flight across nine matches which is more than any other side and an average of just over 2.5 goals per game.

Across those strikes, they have been shared between 11 players and a Chelsea own goal from our 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge.

At the heart of those clinical goalscoring statistics is a willingness to take aim which has seen City attempt 155 shots in the WSL so far this season - the most across the division.

PASS AND MOVE

Throughout the season so far, City have continued to evolve and adapt our playing style due to in-game situations we find ourselves in.

This has seen Jeglertz’s team on occasion surrender high percentages of possession in order to stabilise defensively and force effective turnovers.

Our accuracy when picking out a teammate remains high and consistent with our successful passes (3633) and passing accuracy (83.3%) ranking fourth highest respectively across the WSL in 2025/26 so far.

BATTLE

Alongside our slick attacking play, Jeglertz’s side have also reflected our ability to fiercely battle for a foothold in proceedings.

Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s 75 duels won is the most from any player across the division and Laura Blindkilde Brown’s total tackles of 30 is the third highest and only two away from leader Oona Siren’s 32.

As a squad, City possess the third highest amount of tackles won across the division so far with 191 and the fourth most duels won in the WSL so far with 437.

NEVER GIVE UP

Of City’s 24 points after nine WSL matches, six of those have come from losing positions which is the second most across the division.

The Blues found ourselves behind against Brighton and Liverpool respectively before recording 2-1 wins in each and the ability to turn the match in our favour is yet another example of our growth under Jeglertz.

Last season alone, the Blues dropped more points from winning positions (11) than Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United combined (10).

What’s more, City have scored four goals after the 80th minute so far this term with that tally only bettered by Manchester United, Brighton and Arsenal.

These have included euphoric winners, too, with Iman Beney’s 88th-minute strike securing a 3-2 home win over the Gunners before Aoba Fujino struck in the 86th in the 2-1 win at Anfield.

FINAL THIRD

With City the current league top scorers overall, perhaps it’s unsurprising to see our presence in the individual charts for attacking returns.

Bunny Shaw’s tally of six WSL goals this season means she currently leads the way in that metric as she eyes a third straight Golden Boot award.

Those goals have come across nine outings meaning she averages just over 0.6 goals per game so far.

Throughout Jeglertz’s tenure the Blues have lined-up in a fluid 3-4-3 which encourages our fullbacks to push high into the final third and maybe no player has flourished in that role more than Kerstin Casparij.

The Netherlands international has consistently produced tireless displays in all thirds of the pitch while making an impact in the final.

This has seen her register four assists in total in nine appearances which is only bettered by Ella Toone’s six, meanwhile Casparij has scored twice in the WSL this season.
