Clasico: De Jong comes to the rescue of Lamine Yamal

The Clasico wasn’t just tense on the pitch. After Real Madrid’s 2–1 victory, several Madrid players sought out Lamine Yamal for answers, with the press accusing the young Barcelona star of hinting that "Madrid steals."

Frenkie de Jong quickly came to the youngster’s defense, insisting the claims were blown out of proportion:

Lamine didn’t say that Madrid steals, at least not directly. Everyone talks around him, but he never actually said that.

The Dutch midfielder then addressed Dani Carvajal directly, after Carvajal made a provocative gesture towards Yamal following the match:

If he’s supposed to be his national teammate, he can call him privately. There’s no need to confront him on the pitch.

For De Jong, the controversy has gone too far: "All of this is exaggerated, there’s no problem."
