The midfielder’s summer arrival at the Joie Stadium signalled the end of the Club’s preseason transfer business as the Blues plotted our pursuit of the Barclays Women’s Super League title.

Before she arrived at City, Clinton had previously represented Everton, Manchester United, Bristol City and Spurs and had faced Andrée Jeglertz’s side on numerous occasions.

This undoubtedly increased her familiarity with her new teammates before signing for the Club, but she explained who she’s connected with since signing for the Blues.

“[From the] people I didn’t know who I’ve clicked with is probably Leila [Ouahabi] and Kerolin,” she revealed on the latest episode of the Official Man City Podcast.

“They’re two [I really get on with]. Leila’s like a little firecracker, she makes me laugh so much I call her ‘pepper’ and Kerolin is cool and I really get on with her.

“And then Aoba and Yui, they’re two [who I think] I could just live with you – just take them home and we could all live together.

“I call Leila ‘pepper’ because she’s a little bit spicy and then I’m like salt so we’re like salt and pepper.”

Although Clinton spoke of her closeness with Brazil international Kerolin during her time at City so far, their first interaction came in a Manchester derby last year while the former was playing for our cross-city rivals.

With the skilful winger on the attack for the Blues, the 22-year-old caught her with a tackle which sparked a reaction from both.

And that altercation instantly broke the ice between the pair during the England midfielder’s first days at the Club.

Clinton added: “Me and Kerolin laugh about it now, but in the derby last season I did one of the challenges I usually would in a derby. But it was on Kerolin,” she explained.

“She went flying, and I thought she dived – she doesn’t say she dived – but I did put a good enough challenge in for her to go down.

“She went on the floor but got up and went to the ref so I turned round to her and gestured that she was crying. I was like ‘why you crying for?’ basically and did the crying face.

“She came over and started yapping to me and I just wasn’t listening anymore because I was getting shouted at by my teammates to get in the wall.

“And we laugh about it so much now because she was like ‘why did you do this to me?’ and I replied ‘why did you dive and cry?’ and we just have a laugh about it.

“I don’t take anything that seriously so I was just laughing and she doesn’t take anything seriously and she’s really chilled and nice. It was funny.”
