With the window closing in a few days, Club América are racing to secure a final addition for Apertura 2026, a centre-back to cover the loss of Sebastián Cáceres.
According to Americayya.net, the club are in negotiations to sign Santiago Ramos Mingo, a 24-year-old Argentinian centre-back currently with Bahía FC in Brazil’s Serie A.
At Bahía FC, Ramos Mingo has been a regular starter, making 88 appearances and scoring 15 goals, a strong return for a centre-back.
The board had also assessed a move for David Alaba, formerly of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, after he was offered as a free agent by his agent.
However, they are not fully convinced given his current level and recent injuries, and appear to be leaning towards Ramos Mingo.
The transfer window closes on 11 September at 23:59, so any deal must be completed before then.
