Earlier ties in the old CONCACAF Champions’ Cup included a 3-0 win against New York Giuliana in 1977 and victories over San Pedro Yugoslavs in 1987. In 1992 they beat Dallas Rockets across two legs, then split a semi-final with San Francisco Bay.

In 2015 they drew 1-1 with Impact Montreal then won 4-2 to take the title. They edged Seattle Sounders in 2016 before falling to Toronto FC, beat Atlanta United in 2020 then lost 3-1 to LAFC in the semi-final. América later beat Portland Timbers and Philadelphia Union in 2021, routed NE Revolution in 2024, drew 0-0 at Nashville SC in 2026, then won 1-0 away at Philadelphia before a 1-1 home draw.

Outside the continental competition, results include a 2-1 International Champions Cup defeat to LA Galaxy in 2015 and a 3-2 Campeones Cup loss to Atlanta United in 2019, plus 1-1 with Columbus Crew in 2024 settled on penalties. Leagues Cup meetings have brought wins over St. Louis City and shoot-out exits to Nashville SC and Colorado Rapids. In 2025, LAFC prevailed 2-1 after extra time following a 1-1 draw in the Club World Cup Play-In.

For statistical purposes, extra-time and penalty outcomes are not counted, only the 90 minutes are, so those matches register as draws.
