In the latest look at the groups competing at this summerâs Club World Cup in the USA, it is now time to cast our eyes over Group E.
This should be a direct shoot-out between Inter and River Plate as to who finishes atop Group E. Inter have been enjoying a brilliant but frustrating campaign having taken Napoli to the final day of the Serie A season and then been thrashed in the Champions League final. River, meanwhile, got to the quarter-finals of the Liga Argentina's first phase and are currently unbeaten in the Copa Libertadores after 12 games.
Undoubtedly the one to look forward to here is Inter's clash with River in Seattle on June 25th. This will be the final group game and, should all go to plan, will be a winner-takes-all clash as to who finishes top and books a potential knockout game against, probably, Fluminense or Borussia Dortmund.
Lautaro MartĂnez (Inter)
Lautaro MartĂnez continues to be a pivotal figure for Inter, leading the team's attack with remarkable consistency. In the 2024/25 season, he achieved the milestone of becoming the first Inter player to score in five consecutive Champions League matches, including a hat-trick against Monaco. His leadership and goal-scoring prowess have been instrumental in the Nerazzurri's journey to the Champions League final
Franco Mastantuono (River Plate)
At just 17-years-old, Franco Mastantuono has emerged as one of River Plate's most promising talents. Despite his youth, the left-footed midfielder has displayed maturity and composure, becoming a central figure in River's midfield. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with a move to Real Madrid sealed before the tournament began.

Takahiro Sekine, serving as the captain of Urawa Red Diamonds, brings experience and leadership. A product of Urawa's youth system, Sekine has been a consistent presence on the wing, known for his pace and ability to create chances.
Fidel AmbrĂz (Monterrey)

Fidel AmbrĂz, a 22-year-old midfielder, has quickly become an integral part of Monterrey's squad since joining from LeĂłn in 2024. Known for his defensive capabilities and vision, AmbrĂz recently made his debut for the Mexican national team.
Just how good is Franco Mastantuono? The teenager has been hailed in Argentina as their next great hope and with links to Real Madrid only intensifying, it's going to be fascinating to see if the teenage attacker can impress against one of Europe's best sides this season.
