Cody Gakpo opens up on failed Manchester City move | OneFootball

Cody Gakpo has addressed the collapse of a proposed switch to Manchester City. "It was a difficult summer for me, my family and everything to do with football and life."

He was speaking to The Telegraph. Enzo Maresca’s side made a late push, but the move fell through in the final hours. Reports suggested the package on offer would have meant a sizeable pay rise.

"The summer was very tough, on all fronts. Now it is what it is. I just want to enjoy my life with my family and friends."

Gakpo is contracted at Anfield until 2030 and is working under Andoni Iraola, often from the right after Liverpool missed out on Yankuba Minteh or Ismaila Sarr. "We have to do the things we can control to the best of our ability. I just do my job."
