Carlo Ancelotti has named Brazil’s World Cup squad, with Flamengo standouts Danilo, Alex Sandro, Léo Pereira and Lucas Paquetá included. According to Coluna Do Fla, the club could yet supply more players once Uruguay, Colombia and Ecuador announce their lists.
Five further Flamengo footballers feature on preliminary lists for their countries. Arrascaeta has already joined Uruguay to continue his recovery from clavicle surgery.
Uruguay’s federation has not set a squad announcement date. Marcelo Bielsa could call Arrascaeta, Varela and De La Cruz, and the first two played at the 2022 World Cup.
Colombia will reveal their call-ups on 31 May. Jorge Carrascal is expected to represent Colombia at the 2026 World Cup.
Ecuador coach Sebastián Beccacece considers Gonzalo Plata a key figure. Despite mixed form at Flamengo, the winger is likely to be named when Ecuador publish their list on one June.
World Cup preparations have not begun, so the call-up candidates remain with Flamengo, apart from Arrascaeta who is already in Uruguay. On Wednesday 20 May, Flamengo face Estudiantes (ARG) in the fifth round of the Libertadores group stage.
