Cesc Fabregas has again highlighted Inter Milan as at the top of Italian football, speaking openly in his latest Como press conference about the level required to compete with the Nerazzurri.

The former Spain international stressed how demanding Serie A has become, especially for attacking sides.

Indeed, he pointed to Inter as the only team capable of truly imposing themselves week after week.

“Winning in Italy is very, very difficult,” Fabregas said, with quotes via FCInter1908.

“Scoring here is hard because of how teams defend. Winning is even harder, it’s a very complicated league.”

He explained that coaches across Europe frequently ask him how Italian teams prepare, adding that success in Serie A demands “very clear ideas” in the final third.

Fabregas also noted how the role of a striker has evolved.

“You can’t compare football from the past to today,” he said.

“Pippo Inzaghi didn’t defend much, he waited for his moment, like my son,” he joked.

“Now forwards have to do much more.”

Amid those tactical shifts, one side stands out. “Right now I don’t see many dominant teams, except Inter, who dominate the most in the league,” he continued.

Fabregas praised Cristian Chivu’s side for their strength “across so many parameters and registers on the pitch,” pointing to the balance and clarity that have made them Serie A’s benchmark.

Como, he added, are working to develop “new solutions” to reach those levels.
