Como thrash Leipzig in dream Champions League debut | OneFootball

Como marked their Champions League debut in spectacular fashion, sweeping aside RB Leipzig 4-1 at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Cesc Fabregas’ side needed just 15 minutes to make history, with Martin Baturina opening the scoring after Tasos Douvikas’ cutback fell kindly to the Croatian midfielder.

Baturina then turned provider before half-time, sending Douvikas through on goal and the forward calmly slotted past Maarten Vandevoordt to give Como a 2-0 lead.

Leipzig improved after the interval but were punished again when Assane Diao raced beyond Willi Orban before firing into the far corner.

Andrija Maksimovic gave the visitors brief hope with a superb strike from outside the box, but Como remained in control.

Maximo Perrone put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time, finishing after being played in by Nico Paz.

The victory caps a remarkable rise for Como, who returned to Serie A in 2024 after three promotions in six seasons. Their European debut could hardly have gone better.
