Martin Baturina has made history as the first ever player to score a goal for Como in the Champions League, opening the scoring against RB Leipzig in the club’s first ever match in the competition on Thursday night.
Cesc Fabregas’s side are competing in their first ever season in the Champions League after a fourth-place finish in Serie A at the end of the 2025-26 season. Their first test came at home against Bundesliga opposition in RB Leipzig at the Stadio Sinigaglia.

It took just 14 minutes for Como to get themselves off the mark in Europe’s premier club competition, Baturina involved at the beginning and the end of the move.
The Croatia international wriggled his way out of traffic just inside the Leipzig half before sending Tasos Douvikas on a run down the right flank. Baturina made his way into the area, received the cut-back from Douvikas thanks to a helpful deflection, sent several Leipzig defenders to the shops with his check in the middle of the area before hammering past Maarten Vandevoorft for 1-0.
