There was a clear sense of frustration at the Real Madrid camp after their 1-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final first leg, but no one embodied that emotion more than Kylian Mbappe.

The French superstar was the lone bright spot on an otherwise disappointing night, scoring the goal that keeps Madrid’s hopes alive heading into the return leg.

Yet, even that was not enough to hide his visible dissatisfaction once the final whistle was blown at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Mbappe was not happy

According to reports from SPORT, Mbappe left the pitch clearly annoyed, showing little interest in post-match formalities.

Despite being approached by the club’s press officer to give a quick interview on the pitch, he declined outright.

The forward simply said no and walked away, without addressing the cameras, the crowd, or even engaging much with teammates.

To understand his reaction, one must look at the game itself.

Mbappe had multiple opportunities to influence the result but found himself repeatedly denied by Manuel Neuer, who produced a series of outstanding saves.

Although Mbappe eventually found the net, reducing the deficit, the missed chances clearly weighed heavily on him.

However, his frustration was not limited to his own performance.

Unhappy Bernabeu crowd

There was also visible annoyance at the atmosphere inside the Bernabeu.

At various points during the match, sections of the crowd voiced their displeasure, directed not just at Mbappe but also at teammates like Vinicius Jr. after misplaced passes.

For Mbappe, this reaction was difficult to accept, especially given the magnitude of the occasion.

From his perspective, the team needed home support in one of the biggest matches of the season, not criticism from the stands.

That disconnect between players and supporters appeared to deepen his frustration towards the end of the match.
