‘Concern’ at Barcelona over fresh injury setback | OneFootball

Those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona are growing increasingly concerned by the latest fitness setback suffered by midfield standout Pedri.

This comes chiefly owing to the location of the problem.

Spanish international Pedri was for his part ruled out of Barcelona’s upcoming meeting with Villarreal earlier today.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Hansi Flick explained:

“He has problems with his calves. He could play, but the risk is high and it is best for him to rest. It’s nothing dangerous, but you have to take care of it.”

Despite the efforts of Barca’s headmaster to play the situation down, though, the understanding is that many at the Ciutat Esportiva are growing ‘concerned’.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘The club fears that the injury will be more serious than initially believed. It is feared that the injury is in the same place as the previous one.’

For this reason, should he not be entirely recovered, Pedri will also not be risked against Espanyol on January 3rd.
