Hungarian police are investigating the disappearance of former QPR and Plymouth player Akos Buzsaky

Concerns have been raised regarding the health of former QPR and Plymouth Argyle player Ákos Buzsáky.

The Hungarian police have launched an investigation into the whereabouts of the 44-year-old, according to Talksport.

The former midfielder has been missing since 18 August, with a search now underway to try and find him.

Buzsáky is known for his stints in English football with the Pilgrims and the Hoops, having made the move from Porto to Home Park in 2005.

He spent the next seven years in the country, plying his trade with the two clubs, as well as Portsmouth and Barnsley.

The former Hungary international returned to the country in 2013 with Ferencváros, before retiring from the game in 2015 after just a handful of appearances.

QPR and Plymouth have both released statements regarding the disappearances of their former player Buzsáky.

The 44-year-old has become the subject of a police search after being reported missing last week.

The Championship side have written, via their X account: “The club are concerned to learn that R’s favourite Ákos Buzsáky has been reported missing.

“We’re all praying he’s found safe and well.”

Meanwhile, the Pilgrims have posted on their X account: “We are concerned to hear that Ákos Buzsáky has been reported missing.

“Everybody at Plymouth Argyle is hoping that Ákos is found safe soon.”

Buzsáky signed for the Pilgrims on an initial loan basis in 2005 before completing a permanent move later that year.

He made a total of 96 league appearances for the club in the Championship before signing for QPR in 2007, where he again joined on loan at first before signing a permanent deal.

Buzsáky helped the London outfit earn promotion to the Premier League in 2010/11, making 19 appearances in the league, before playing 18 times in the top flight.

But he departed the Hoops after their 17th place finish in the league, taking the step down to Barnsley and then Portsmouth, which signalled the end of his time in England.

Plymouth fans have issued their support to Buzsáky, and are hoping that he is found quickly and safely.

He has received a lot of messages of support from QPR as well, with everyone hoping he can be found.

Buzsáky is particularly well remembered at Loftus Road for his role in helping the club gain promotion to the Premier League.

So QPR fans are especially concerned with the developments surrounding his disappearance.

Everyone in the football family will be hoping that the 44-year-old is safe and can be found soon.

Buzsáky had a lengthy stint in English football, and he will be remembered well by fans of many clubs and not just those he played for.

His initial spell at Plymouth showed he had what it takes to compete to a high level in the Championship, and he proved important as QPR became a Championship winner in 2011.

The midfielder earned a place in the Premier League, making 18 appearances at that level, scoring in wins over Wigan Athletic and Swansea City.
